It is now September and it is time to get back to
work. At least that is the view of most folks in
Europe as they feel their summer holiday has come to
an end.
In my case I am using September 1st as the start date for a change to the blog. I want to shift the organization so that I can more easily add what I am seeing and hearing each day. As a general rule I do not expect to post every day but I do want to create a number of categories that reflect how I tend to view the real estate investing playing field. A way to organize the info I am reading, conversations that I want to pass on and other info that should be helpful to other investors.
The high level categories moving forward will be as follows:
RE Economics - macro - Discussions that can impact the larger investment or economic ‘playing field’. No matter how good a real estate investor is the macro level forces cannot be ignored or avoided.
RE Economics - micro - Real estate investing is all about cash flow, financing and other details. Some investors say it is all about the numbers. The deals come from motivated sellers but the numbers must stack up. Specific strategies to make the numbers line up will be discussed. Also included are ideas for how to save money or improve the management of the assets.
Motivation & inspiration - Fish or cut bait. Lead, follow of become road kill.
RE questions & advice - Questions raised by readers or questions from other sources. My perspective and advice that I can offer. A bit of Paying if Forward given all the advice I have received over the years.
eMarketing - While I am no expert in the field I can pass on what I have learned or what I am experimenting with at the time.
Gadgets, software & other tools - My formal training is in the field of software development and technology. I am a gadget guy plus an early adopter. As I see new technologies that catch my interest I will report what I have experienced. There will be a bias towards technology that might help real estate investors but there is no direct requirement.
Collectanea - A great word. It means “passages, remarks, and other pieces of text collected from various sources.” I read a lot and some of the information deserves to be passed on. Most of the items here will be interesting. Not something which easily fits into one of the other categories.
